Fox Trot
The "Get Acquainted" Dance

The Fox Trot is the foundation for all smooth dances and is known as the "first impression" dance. Harry Fox, a Vaudeville comedian, introduced the trot in 1913 to a ragtime song in the Ziegfeld Follies. It quickly became one of America's most popular dances, easily accommodating musical styles from Big Band to Frank Sinatra.
